Climate Action Planning
I work with destinations, travel businesses and tourism organisations looking to develop their climate action plans and strategies.
After co-founding Tourism Declares a Climate Emergency in 2019, I have spent most of the last six years supporting the development of Climate Action Plans for the tourism industry.
I have created Climate Action Plans with many destinations and organisations, ranging from National Tourism Organisations, regional DMOs to international membership organisations. I have written (or helped write) the Climate Action Plans for Visit Finland, Visit Scotland, the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, The European Travel Commission, NECSTouR, Visit Honduras, Glasgow Life and El Hierro. I have also advised many DMOs and SMEs by delivering Climate Action Planning workshops, online training and webinars.
I have worked closely with UN Tourism since 2021 on the launch and ongoing implementation and development of the Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism. As part of our ongoing collaboration I have read and reviewed hundreds of Climate Action Plans from across the sector in order to develop the official guidance and tools to support their implementation.
Through my work with UN Tourism, the Travel Foundation and others I have created several resources designed to support destinations, tourism organisations and other businesses in creating their Climate Action Plans.
